Flights to and from Jeddah and Madinah are operating, but some airlines have cancelled or reduced services, and schedules are changing daily. If you have an Umrah trip planned, confirm your flight with your airline before you leave for the airport.
Airlines have faced mounting disruption across Saudi Arabia after repeated airport missile attacks, with Riyadh’s main gateway still closed and flights cancelled at Jeddah and Dammam. Jeddah and Madinah have stayed open, but with fewer flights than normal.
Recent figures show the two airports are working at reduced levels rather than shut down. On 19 October, 56 of 356 departures were affected at Jeddah (15.73%), and 13 of 87 at Madinah (14.94%). That is much better than the peak, when 701 of 1,178 scheduled departures nationwide were cancelled or listed as no-fly on 15 October.
With Riyadh closed, flights to Riyadh are being diverted to nearby cities like Madinah and Qassim, and flight services to Jeddah have increased. Dubai to Madinah services were listed as operating or scheduled on 20 October.
Airlines are handling the situation differently, and announcements change often.

European aviation regulators have issued a safety bulletin. EASA bulletin CZIB-2026-09-R1, revised 9 October and valid through 16 November unless reviewed earlier, recommends avoiding specified parts of the Jeddah flight information region and exercising caution elsewhere. The same source notes that the UK advises against non-essential Saudi travel. Check your own government’s current travel advice, as it differs by country.

Reports from 20 October say Riyadh Airport remained closed. If your trip involves Riyadh, check for alternatives.
That is a personal decision. Check your airline, your government’s travel advice and your insurance, and speak to your Umrah provider before you decide.
Ask the airline about rebooking or a refund, then tell your Umrah provider so your hotels and transfers can be adjusted where possible.
